It’s hard to enjoy a book when you keep hoping the 2 main characters will die.
What horrendous drivel. I’m not sure how this even got published let alone made into a movie. Definitely not sci-fi. Just a nerdy, douchbag (borderline sociopathic) family dealing with the way they “feel” after treating everyone in their life like trash.

Dumb. Pretty but dumb. And pointless. And maybe a little obvious. The parts in space would have worked as long as they never made it into Earth orbit. The part with Augustine, I guess it would have worked if it had just ended. The beginning with Augustine going around the world to observatories, the author presumably not knowing that telescopes were being controlled over the internet by 2015 or choosing to ignore it. The lack of any explanation whatsoever either for the end of the world or the appearance of a small girl. Yeah. No.

Some cussing throughout, which prevents me from give a 5 star rating, but overall the story tugged me forward to finish. The ending left me with questions which I was immediately sad to not know, but afterward I enjoyed contemplating myself, so I thought that was a wise decision by the author.

3.5 stars! The book has less to do about space and the Arctic than it does about the decisions people look back on. The move was a disaster and as expected nothing to do with the book.
