I am speechless! This conclusion to N.K. Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy is a masterpiece. As far as sweeping fantasy trilogies go, this series is only rivaled by the Lord of the Rings. It had everything and I am left immediately wanting to reread the series. It left me broken but so hopeful. Jemisin showcases diversity at every turn and has built a world that is so believable I can't believe it's fictional. She has set the standard for me. I don't have the words for how much I enjoyed and admire this series.

Overall: Fantastic, a must-read for any sci-fi or fantasy fan.

Satisfying and epic conclusion to the trilogy. This is an example of a book that does a good job using flashbacks to a historical timeline to explain the present better.

The only thing I didn’t feel quite worked was the briar patch reveal. It was a little over the top and didn’t feel plausible to me that the main society wouldn’t even be aware that it could feel offensive to use the Niess that way.
