It was pulling teeth at the beginning, almost DNF'd. 2nd half redeemed itself but the writing style of subtext intermingled with the story really made it hard to flow and enjoy the read.
Backstory of secondary characters was more enjoyable than main character progression.

Amazingly touching story and the Lin Manuel Miranda narration really brings out Diaz' voice. Thoroughly enjoyed Oscar's and the Cabral's journey.

4.5 stars. I'll probably up this to a five star. The audiobook is a must - narrated by Lin-Manuel Miranda!

Cruza de forma singular a história de um país (República Dominicana) com a história de uma família. Um dos melhores que li ultimamente.

I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t this. I learned a lot and it inspired me to look into more history regarding the places. Well written too
