4 "I freaking loved it" stars

Wow. That’s the most accurate way of saying how I feel right now. Wow. Just Wow. No words. This book was simply mind-blowing. I didn’t expect to love it so much, and no words can explain just how freaking overjoyed I am right now. I loved the first book in this series, really enjoyed it, and when it ended I simply had to read the next one to know what would happen. Well fuck, I didn’t expect to fall in love.

Conquer Me is the second book in the Royals Saga by Geneva Lee. Normally, the second book in a trilogy isn’t my favorite. People usually prefer either the first, or the last. But it’s very rare to have the second one as your favorite. At least, I never have. But this book changed it all. I didn’t think it was possible for this series to get better after the first book, it was already pretty darn good, but boy was I wrong. If you only read the first book, Command Me, and you’re not sure if you should continue on, I say: What the fuck are you waiting for? It was perfection. If you love Erotic Romance, I can assure you you’ll love this book. It has everything you probably want, AKA: a domineering, protective, possessive, and demanding alpha male. Other than that, there’s also the basic stuff, you know?! An awesome plotline, some fantastic plot twists, and a whole lot of drama. Just what you needed, isn’t it? I thought so too.

The first book in the series was free, I picked it up, thinking it would be one of those books that I start reading and end up asking myself why the hell have I lost my time reading it…fast-forward four days and I WAS IN LOVE. Now, this series doesn’t get half of the hype it deserves. You loved the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy by E. L. James? Read this series. You loved the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day? Read this series. You loved the Fixed trilogy by Laurelin Paige? Read this series. You loved any trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas? What are you waiting for? Read this series. Hell, you simply love books? Read this gosh darn series. I mean I pretty much only have one thing to tell you: Read this series. Just read it. Now. Don’t deny yourself what could possibly be your next favorite read. That would be so sad…

Geneva Lee is actually a pretty good writer. No offense, but I had no expectations when it came to her books. Again, I was wrong. So wrong. She’s a really good writer, and I do hope more people read her books, she deserves it. In fact, she had me in tears. Just a few tears nothing major of course... alright, maybe a bit more than that…Ok, a lot more than that, I was literally curled in a fetus position, under the covers in my bed, weeping like a child because she had written the most beautiful proposal I’ve ever read. Then I cried out of sadness because it made me realize just how boring and unromantic my life truly was. But that’s off topic. I want to officially crown (Ha! No pun intended) Geneva Lee for the best proposal scene you’ll ever read. It. Was. Un-fucking-believable. Thank you, Geneva Lee, for that. It was exquisite.

This review is absolutely going nowhere, my thoughts are all bundled up in my mind, and what I’m trying to say probably makes no sense. Oh well… A good book does that to a girl. The only thing I know is that I’ll be reading the third one pretty soon. In fact, I’m starting it this very minute. So, sorry for this shitty review, but I have other stuff to do, like starting the third and final book in this series. Bye.

Oh and if you actually read all of this shitty review to this very sentence, well, thank you. HA!

Before my 3 stars scare you... let me just say that I gave the first book 4, because there's no 4.5 option, and to me this was a little less enjoyable. Let me explain why!

In the first book's review, I said that I expect Clara's character to grow and mature into being what a 'royal' in this series should be (=heartless, and confident). And while that happened, we only saw bits and pieces of the actual story line, because 90% of this book was sex.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy a steamy scene as much as the next girl, but in this book Ms. Lee over-abused this power. She writes AMAZING sex, but that's all that this book was about. Every other page, a new smut scene. I found myself getting bored with this book and it took me almost a month to finish it, because besides the body-contact, nothing much was happening.

Still, I already purchased the 3rd book to this series, and I'm hoping it'll be better than this one, because the first one set my expectations really high! Also, I'm invested in the story line, and I want Alexander and Clara to have their own, twisted happy ending.

This one I didn't enjoy as much as Command Me, the first in the series. It seemed like some parts were just there for sex, but didn't move the plot along much. It's still a fun read that moves the lives of the characters along and shows us how they continue to grow.

Completely escapist non-literature. This is almost like Shades of Grey fanfic except that it's an overall more healthy relationship than in that book. These characters started to get tiresome in this book--the whole notion that the naughty prince is dangerous/has darkness felt exaggerated and repetitive in this book. The unreasonable amount of sex even managed to get tiresome--ugh, is he shoving her against a wall again? Get on with it already. I had felt like the female lead was at least not a doormat through the first book, but her level of angsty-worrying was tiresome here. The last quarter of the book, the plot picked up enough to make me willing to read the third one, maybe. At least these are fast reads.
