Halsey’s poetry is wonderfully vivid and ugly. It doesn’t shy from horrible truths at all. This is also why I love them as a music artist, her words are powerful and spellbinding. It translates to the written word just as well.
The reason that it’s not 5 stars is that some of it felt unedited. Also, there was 1 line that was biphobic that kinda shocked me. I know Halsey is bi themself, but still, it felt unnecessary to what I felt the poem was trying to say; commenting on toxic masculinity and relationships with men within the patriarchy.
