Ok, this was fine. There were some really stand out poems, but the collection as a whole was pretty weak.
I love the cover art, and I can tell that Halsey really loves her art and she actually cares about poetry, but it’s just not a collection that really worked properly.
I’ll be keeping it and re reading some of my favourite poems, but I do feel that the collection as a whole is very weak. I counted all the poems and the ones that I liked out of them and it was 26/82. That’s really bad but I don’t hate this collection.
I have plenty of critiques but I did enjoy it. There were issues but I actually like it, I stand by everything I’ve said but it was fun and punchy.
6.7/10. I am far too obsessed with poetry lately.

I was really excited about this book since I’m such a fan of her music. The poems all read in a way where I could hear them being her songs. Many of them were incredibly personal, involving sex, drugs, and abuse. I’m not the biggest fan of poetry, but I read this all in one sitting, so id recommend it for sure. I’m really glad she included her poem from the Women’s March in the book as well. It’s so so so powerful.

I love Halsey as a musician, but the majority of their poetry falls flat. I usually can appreciate rhyming poetry, but so many of their rhymes are awkward and forced. there were some pieces that resonated deeply, but I expected more from such a gifted songwriter.

I'm just not feeling tripped enough to finish these poems. They aren't as great as the poetry book I just read and I'm not really in the mood to finish it.

Meh, to be honest. I was expecting a lot more, but these felt like discarded lyrics to Halsey's songs.

I loved these poems so much. Confessional poetry will always be my favorite and Halsey's poems are dark, longing, personal, hurtful, hurting - I found them to be very powerful. I would recommend these poems to anyone who is in the right headspace to reflect upon their own difficult times.
