My timetable has become:

4am: Wake
4am-9am: Wonder why I am awake
9am-7pm: Work on a project that's going nowhere
7pm-11pm: Read lizardman smut

I'm not into lizardmen. Meoraq did nothing for me. How do I justify this behaviour to myself? To the ones who love me?

Didn’t realize there would be on-page rape perpetrated by the MMC, which was my bad for not checking the content warnings.

Don't read this thinking this is a romance book! This is for the horror fans that can enjoy a romantic subplot. This author knows how to write bad guys. Amber was so compelling and Scott was so punchable. I was struggling when the author threw us readers in the deep end of the alien world building, but glad I prevailed!

A good epic sci-fi novel. I didn't care for the spirituality and woo. I suspect the author is a person who subscribes to some type of religious belief system or one of those "higher power" types.
I also don't know why Amazon Kindle had it categorized as erotic horror. There was zero sex until at least the 50% mark and the sex that followed was...fine. Not super hot, or frequent, much of it closed door.
But the author explored a number of themes really well, the main one being the birth of organized religion and how that might differ from a nebulous "higher power" that takes interest in the peons.
It was a hard read especially with all the
brutal rape
that takes place later in the novel.
