A rounding off of Leslie and Edward's story.
The war is taking its toll on Leslie - left behind again by Edward he is struggling to find a purpose. Though he does come over as a petulent child at times. I did get a bit fed up of his banter with his brother.
Edward's return doesn't immediately resolve issues, though they do get a bit of a mystery that harkens back to Leslie and Robert's orphanage childhood.
A simpler story, reflecting different social mores of that time - though they were quite careless of hiding their relationship at times.
Whilst possible to read standalone, would say better to read as part of the series.
