This was too dark for me. Nothing comforting to relieve the bleakness.

this book was so bad oml I was almost in tears each time I turned the page. none of the characters were interesting enough for me to care what happened to them & I was able to get through three books while just trying to read this one. absolutely hated it. sorry author.

Two people are kidnapped, locked in a room and starved to dead, the only thing in the room is a phone and a gun with one bullet. The phone has only one purpose; to tell the two people that you can kill the other person or be killed by the other person only when there is one person alive in the room the door will open.
Inspector Helen Grace and her team make hunt on the murderer who leaves the living victim broken and guilty behind. But then a second victim is found. There must be something that connects the victims.

  Actual rating 3,5!

This was a quick interesting fast read. It was not predictable, what I think is a flaw in many crime books. I had no idea what was going to happen and who was the murderer until the last pages. I Liked the writing style and all the change in perspective. I am also a fan of very short chapters and change in characters. I liked that we get to hear from the murderer in between the police investigation. Actually you get to hear from the victim, the police and the murderer, what I thought was really interesting. But the only thing that was quit weird was the time frames. For example while the last chapter was about the police when they find out the victim is taken for a few days and then the next chapter is about the victim who is then gone for 1 day. That didn’t add up a few times and got me confused.

The second negative thing was that the story did drag on a little, on page 300 I was like you can tell us who did this already!
Spoiler And then the kidnapping off charlie and Mark still needed to happen.
But the strange thing was that I felt that the ending was a little rushed.
Spoiler Helen is taken from the room and then the story just ends?! I wanted to know how she was doing, guess that is going to be in the next book.

The plot was great but I did not expect the first victim to be out on page 30 and how many more persons would follow. But everything gets clear toward the end. I Liked the characters and for this type of book they were ok, but I personally like to see them with a little more debt. Because I don’t know that much about the main character and her motives and I know the other characters of the team really superficial which annoyed me.

It was very original how the murders are taken place. But there are some gross scenes like people drinking their own pee or eating maggots from an open wound. IEW!

The mental thing is written about amazing. The victims loose hope more and more. And it was interesting to see that in all the victims the same thing happened. Happy to get out, guilty about what they have done, angry at the person they killed because they are dead and then totally broken. The story is very, very dark.
SpoilerBut I am actually disappointed that no one was saved. I would have liked to see Mark and Charlie saved personally, because I felt for Mark and Charlie was pregnant.

Overall great quick interesting read but the plot dragged on a little and the characters were just ok. The tittle is amazing though!
