I liked this!
Enjoyable characters. Small town murder mystery with a good romance plot. Very enjoyable!!
I do have to say I called the killer from the start, but still I very much enjoyed it!

My first book by this author so I came jnto it with no preconceptions about how she normally writes. For me, it was a murder mystery with a hint of paranormal rather than a romance and I was left intrigued to see if this was part of a series as there are lots of loose ends for the cast of female friends to be resolved in other books. I would read books about the other characters.

I finished it, but all of the "woman", "man", "her sex" things were worth all of the eye rolls.

I decided to give C. F. another try as I loved her books when I was younger. Something just irritated me from the get go about these beautiful and perfect, well-off-waspy women. It just feels fake to me, like manufactured obstacles for them all to overcome together. I feel like there is no depth to these characters, no flaws or shortcomings that make them relatable. I dunno, I just didn't connect with this book I guess....

This is my first time reading a Christine Feehan book and it might be my last.  The book was very slow, extremely repetitive and seemed to have superfluous backstories on every character.  I learned after reading this book that it’s the first in a series, but it seems like some of the details and depth could have waited for the next book.  Also, although the character backstories were extremely lengthy, they weren’t very diverse and all had the same trauma/triumph background which felt flat.
The story itself would have been an interesting concept if it was told more succinct.  It feels like an opportunity was lost because the author wanted to lay detailed ground work for another book.  And to top it off, I guessed the killer very early on.  Again, because the focus seemed to be more on building backstories than the actual “mystery”. Needless to say, I’m disappointed and probably won’t pick up anything from this author again.

Enjoyed the suspense. Enjoyed the relationship between Sam and Stella. Descriptions of all of Stella's friends feels like the start of a series about each friend and left me wanting to know more about them.
