This was a twisty, tense story, and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the older story a little more than the recent one, and the artist's daughter was kind of tiring in how much of a tool she was being. This did make me wonder if I would have been an art restorer in another life. I liked the interplay of the many societal factors happening in here and the idea of an artist yelling about the crime against her in her art.

It was intriguing but ultimately, I had a problem with where the book was going. I didn't like Anna's story. The mural was creepy and when things were coming to light, it just got too much for me.

I found the book a bit slow to start, but I’m truly glad that I finished it. What started as a simple back and forth between two time periods read turned into a mystery that had me hooked. If you can make yourself get through the first few chapters, it will turn into one you’ll want to read right through to the end.
