That cliff hanger though... I have already purchased the rest of the series. Such good writing!

I do not reward weakness. I do not like the pathetic Vhalla and I want her to power through, train, and overcome. I am sad about Larel and iffy about Eletia. I am concerned about Aldrick but know he cannot be harmed by wind, like Vhalla can’t be harmed by fire (only his fire?). I’m hopeful…

Elise Kova when I get you… the way my face went pikachu meme when the title made sense. Honestly this is so fun and angsty it’s scratching an itch I didn’t realize I had.

That was a cliffhanger. Literally.

This book was about Vhalla, with the Solaris Empire, on her trek to conquer the North. Due to the events in the last book, Vhalla doesn't belong solely to herself anymore - she is now a property of the Crown. Add to this the loss and hardships that she went through every waking hour and you will be met with a broken woman. The only thing that is holding her together through her relationship with her prince
Spoilerwhich was thoroughly developed in this book - and I'm still swooning when I think about it
and her friends - which is again threatened to be taken from her.

Vhalla has gone through a lot. She is broken, she is tired, she is lost, and I'm sure her hardships won't end there, but through this she became stronger and fiercer than she once was. And I can't wait to see how she will further grow.

One thing I enjoy a lot from Fire Falling is that I can finally connect with Aldrik and Baldair. They came across as stereotypical and fleeting to my liking in Air Awakens, but Fire Falling explores their characters deeply!
