For someone so smart, she has the most half-baked plans. But what her luck lacks, her privileges got ... well guess she'll have time to mature

"A dozen men with spectacles and more royal certifications than they knew what to do with poked and prodded me for months on end, and not one of them actually figured out what was wrong with me. Royal Examination be damned. You're a doctor, Hazel Sinnett, whatever else you want to call yourself."

Another cute installment in The Anatomy Duology! Immortality picks up where Anatomy leaves off. I really loved the beginning of this one. I’m in the medical field, so all of the surgeries, treatment, and medical content was super intriguing to me. Hazel is such a lovable character and I was rooting for her the whole time. I liked the plot with the royal family. Maybe I’m getting old (lol), but I actually really liked the storyline between Simon and Hazel. Someone who respected her in the world and time where that was unheard of?? What a little medical power couple.

I did find myself a little bored at times (more-so in the middle). Some things felt very unrealistic for such a young character to be doing and achieving. Along those same lines, all of the conflicts are resolved a little too easily and perfectly. Like in Book 1, I wished there was a bit more chemistry between her and a certain other main character. *No spoilers here*. But overall it’s sweet.

There’s romance, adventure, and mystery in here. It’s overall pretty predictable, but that didn’t ruin my reading experience in the slightest and there’s lots of little details thrown about that did leave me pleasantly surprised.

Definitely a lot of YA vibes in here, very low stakes action. I think I absolutely would have eaten this up when I was a bit younger. Overall, a fun read with a satisfying conclusion!

“Women were not objects on a shelf waiting to be selected for marriage; they were as much a part of the society as the men at their sides.”

This book was so much fun to listen to I inhaled it in a week and could easily have kept reading. If you need something light and fluffy, I highly recommend this one.

i'm going to pretend that this book doesn't exist and that anatomy is a standalone. apart from hazel (mostly), this book was a sad, disappointing, unsatisfactory mess

Another brilliantly enjoyable book by Dana Swartz. A good conclusion to the first novel which continues to explore and expand on the themes brought by the first part.
I felt it was not as well rounded a narrative as the first and a little superficial at points but still well worth a read
