just like tower lord (book 2 of the series) i enjoyed the story but got confused from time to time of who was with who and where they were because of the amount of names/characters in the book.

As an enjoyable a read as the previous two books, though I did feel a bit cheated by an ending.

While this one did drag a tad, I loved this series overall. So excited to have discovered a new epic fantasy author with nuanced characters and intricate world-building who's not a misogynist?!?

A solid conclusion to the trilogy, however was my least favourite of the three books overall. Had some really enjoyable moments but others where I lost interest and thought some pacing was off.

I liked the ending. I found the Frentis chapters to be boring but like how Lyrna changed over the series.

Ryan's trilogy works well on the small, personal scale, but fails to convince on its pretensions to an epic scope. The Ancient Evil is easily one of the most tired tropes of fantasy fiction, and it does not work too well here.

I agree with a lot of other reviewers. Most of this book seemed to be a pointless exercise in character explosion. Just because someone has a name they do not need to be mentioned ever unless you make them memorable. It's just Vaelin, Francis, Reva and Lyrna surrounded by a bunch of random names in the middle of, and I quote here, "torrents of blood gushing forth".

The first two books were enjoyable, but this one just wasted my time.
