4.25 ⭐️ It ripped my heart out and then trampled on it, only to piece it back together at the end

solid hockey romance, 4 stars just cause i’m not super into the possessive vibes at the beginning. but the story got a LOT better for me later on! there were a lot of wild ups and downs, i did cry at one part. ALSO no third act break up, thank god

This should be called “if I add one more traumatic event will this book be good?”
The answer is no

This is Danielle & Miller story. Dani is a witty woman that is protecting her heart. Miller is a cocky man that works and loves fiercely. This was an amazing read that has you feeling the pulls in the hardship and the love that brings them together and how they finally come together.

This is probably one of my top hockey reads ever. I loved it when it was just called "Miller." I've read this book many times, and it never gets old.
The only thing i forgot from book, though, was...

Spoiler...

I forgot about what happened to Mia, and I did find it odd that she would offer to take care of a funeral for someone she didn't even know and that millers mother would actually be ok with that. A funeral is such a personal thing for most families it just seemed really odd to me... but I overlooked that because maybe that's just a personal option. Maybe others dont feel the same way.

⭐⭐⭐ It was okay, ignoring the issues for a fun read (average not a standout)

Caught between desire and self-preservation, Danielle is thrust into the path of Miller Cain, the cocky captain of the ice hockey team. Despite her inner turmoil, Danielle is drawn to Miller's charm, knowing he spells trouble. Determined to resist his allure and focus on her college assignment, Danielle resolves to keep her distance for at least a year. However, as Miller sets his sights on her, determined to make her his, Danielle finds herself swept up in a whirlwind of desire and uncertainty.

Something about this did not really do it for me, I enjoyed it but I didn't love it it was kinda just mid. I think I have outgrown this type of story telling. High level spice for a short book and miscommunication does my head in always. The drama was overly dramatic for a college sports romance.

Tropes: forced proximity, college sports romance (hockey)
Triggers: arson, abusive ex, attempted SA, drunk drivers

for me

This book was okay overall. I really liked the beginning but it went a little down hill for me at the end. The extra drama was so annoying. Like it wasn’t jus tone drama plot but like 5. I didn’t like the ex drama like they had multiple plots with him I hated it. It was too much. I didn’t like how spoiler…………… the guys sister died. It was so sad and for what. Like in some books it makes sense in a way but this book there was too much drama. I also didn’t like the line about the sister sitting on the guys lap and the girl mistook her for just a random girl. Sorry but for their ages it’s a little weird sitting on her brothers lap. Overall too much drama. Without any or too much it could have been a 4 star book. But too much drama made it about average. Couple was cute. Overall it was okay. 3/5
