This is probably more like a 3.5 star book, but despite its flaws, I really enjoyed reading it - so I'll give it 4.

I quite enjoyed the first two parts of the story, regarding Jennifer's life. I loved the nostalgia and propriety of life and relationships in 1960's London. Yes, some of the storyline was predictable, but I was still drawn in and found myself sucked into the story. It had a certain romanticism to it, and although it was a story of unrequited love (or maybe because of it), I still found it to be sexy.

The third part of the story didn't interest me as much, maybe because today's younger generation irritate me, and Ellie annoyed me with her bad mistakes and poor judgment (yes, I realize the irony there - why were similar bad mistakes and poor judgment okay for Jennifer, but not Ellie? I don't know, but they seemed more intriguing and even acceptable in Jennifer's story). I thought Ellie's story and the characters in her life weren't as developed as Jennifer's, but I'm okay with that as Jennifer's was, IMO, the more interesting one.

I enjoyed how the storylines came together and I felt satisfied with the way it all ended. There were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing (and surprised), and I closed the book feeling like everything had turned out the way it should.

Overall, a good read - I'll be recommending this to others.

É um 4.5. Esta senhora escreve que é um mimo e claro que agora quero ler tudo o que ela escreveu, até a lista de compras do supermercado se estiver disponível.

This author is quickly becoming a favorite. Yet another beautiful page turner. I struggled to put this down. I desperately wanted to know how it would end. Smiles and tears.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked it much more than Me Before You, written by the same author. This book has an interesting back and forth telling of two love stories. Its happy and sad, and very realistic. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. It was a little tragically sad with a still sort of happy ending, which I feel is typical of JoJo Moyes stories. The story in the past was romantic and the one in the future felt realistic with a satisfying end. I didn’t really like the future character’s choices for a while but she redeemed herself in the end. All in all a lighthearted, easy read that definitely made me want to see the movie next.

I’d give this closer to 3.5 stars than 3. It took me a while to get into and from reading the description of the book before starting it I was expecting it to play out a little differently. The last 30% of the book was what I enjoyed the most as things started to pick up and fall into place. I understand we needed the first part of the story to build and to really understand the characters but it was just a little slow.
