The sweetest book. Now back to Green Gables I go to meet Anne and see Marilla’s wish come true.

An enjoyable wander back into the lives of favourite childhood characters: Marilla and Matthew.
Modern lens turned onto a classic with the integration of historical events that lift it from the microcosm of Avonlea.

Nostalgic in all the right ways with some good messaging. True to the world created by Montgomery.

Thank you Sarah McCoy for writing this! I have also wondered about “what happened” and your version does honor Avonlea. I really enjoyed this telling of Marilla and Matthew and a young Rachael Lynne.

4.5 stars rounded up because of my emotions. This is beautifully written. The prose is much like the Anne of Green Gables series and I think LM Montgomery would be proud. It’s a heartbreaking story because you know how it ends, you know how Marilla’s life ends up, so all the hope and love and possibilities aren’t going to happen. I cried several times, especially at the end.
I highly recommend it for anyone who loves Anne and Green Gables.

I loved this book! It was delightful to read about Marilla. I wonder if the author might write a book from the other characters perspective?
