3.5 rounded to 4. Borrowed from KU.

I’m not sure this book is really 3.5 stars or if it’s partly that it’s so much better than the first one. Interestingly, the first one had many of the same elements, but it was much more cohesive here. It’s annoyingly insta-Love. Again. At least this time our MC’s have some conversations and time together to support the feelings we’re told they have. But, it’s insta-love. Again. So I just can’t give it a full 4 stars.

Mindy (Bri’s bestie from book 1) is looking for a fake fiancé to take to her mom’s wedding. Oliver loses a bet to Gavin (Bri’s hubby and the other MC in Book 1) and Gavin wrangles Oli into filling in. This fake fiancé plot seems thinner than most as Mindy has never met Oli before and they’re supposed to spend a full week convincing Mindy’s family that he’s the “Harold” she’s been telling them stories about for over a year. Details... pish, we’ll just forget those pesky things and get to the wisecracking relatives. And that’s what really lifts this story into the 3 star range. You sort of have to suspend reality and enjoy it. Or you’ll probably hate it.

I’ll keep going with the series as I think Landish is finding her stride ~ and hey, they’re free on KU.

Laugh out loud funny and sexy

This was a refreshing read! I loved all the characters! Many times I found myself laughing so hard I was going to pee myself and then swooning in the same chapter! This was my first book from this author I can't wait to read more of her books!

Oliver and Mindy were fantastic! I loved both characters and the dynamic between them as they try to fool her family into believing Oliver is her fiancé.

I struggled to get on with the first book and thought that maybe the second one might be better, but it's not really much progress and I don't really have the patience.
Better luck to everyone else, this one's not for me.

This was a really great story. I love the way Lauren Landish writes. Wouldn't we all love an Oliver in our lives... oh yes please. Another one of those books which was hard to put down and sad when it was finished. Love Love Loved this book.

Mindy Price has told her family a lie that she has a fiance so when her mother gets married she needs someone to pretend to be her fiance. Oliver has lost a poker hand and he has a choice either lose .5 million dollars or pretend to be Mindy's fiance for a week. When he sees her picture he is drawn to her and agrees.

I really loved that Mindy got her own book. I love her outgoing personality and how she was such a good friend, daughter, and sister. Oliver was a good character too and also seemed to really care about his mother. The two of them had good chemistry from the beginning and I loved how he didn't give up on her.

A quick little read. Some good steamy scenes. Other than that, pretty cliche and predictable.

descriptionThis one was just OK for me. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with it per se. I enjoyed the secondary characters a lot. And Oliver was a likable hero. I just found myself losing interest halfway through, and I had to force myself to continue. On top of that, I HATED Mindy. She acted like such a bitch towards Oliver when the guy was doing HER a huge favor. I mean the VERY first time she meets this guy she gives him the following list of rules...

“First, when we’re not in the presence of my family, you’re not allowed to touch me. And if there comes a time where we display affection for show, only I initiate it. Also, in front of my family, you’ll never lay a hand anywhere on my body that can be deemed inappropriate. Last, you’ll always be respectful and laugh at my jokes."

I almost stopped reading right at that point because holy hell self-centered much?! Unfortunately she just never got any more likable IMO. So ya, as I said, it was just OK.description
