5 stars for this book, 4 for the series. #3 lost me a bit because while politics are essential to the Italian and Neopolitan landscape, I've never been able to even feign and interest in it. These books are dear to my heart because it so accurately shows Naples and it's people, so engrossed in their own small world and afraid of change, and how judged you are and how much you judge yourself when you leave. Even the importance of dialect was felt here and those unfamiliar with it are able to imagine the power simply of language. I felt that from start to finish I wanted to yell at Lenu' for her poor choices and letting the neighborhood seep back in. I honestly could not stand Lila as a character but she truly embodies Naples as a microcosm. Beautiful conclusion to a fantastic series of novels.
