Great little message. I'm glad the "cool" beans weren't mean beans

This is by far the most successful book in this series to me. It has all the fun elements of the other stories - the word play, the cute illustrations- but also the message is MUCH clearer.
Being cool means being compassionate, being thoughtful, being a good friend to others. The main character might not be a "cool bean" in the traditional sense but he is cool in that he gives the kindness and compassion he receives from others.

"Throughout all of this, I realized that it's not about how you look or any of that other silly stuff. It's about a wink or a nod or a smile at just the right moment. It's about dusting somebody off, helping them up again, and pointing them in the right direction."

The story is so simple and heartwarming. I love it!

cute story
just as the other of this series a nice little book about life things.
this one equally about trying to fit and feeling like losing longtime friends for no real reason other than getting older.
nice message in the hook and overall a nice book

What does it feel like when your best friends have moved on from hanging out with you and are now the Cool Beans in school while you're just a nobody bean? This is a really cute and punny picture book about the trials and tribulations of friendships and the difference that a small act of kindness can make. I love all the cute little puns in the illustrations (like the package of BEANdages for a scraped knee).

I’m so obsessed with these cute little stories. The Ray Bean sunglasses had me laughing out loud and all the books too. The Great Gatsbean. A Tale of Two Chickpeas.

This book is full of delightful bean puns, but I wasn't impressed with the abruptness of the story's moral, since it didn't seem to fit with what had come before.
