I devoured this book in an afternoon and am so glad i came across it. Rice's prose was beautiful and evocative, creating a community of characters that felt truly real and lived in. I loved that the nature of the disaster/crisis is believable and explained enough to make the novel work, but is not the focus of the story itself. I'll definitely be re reading again!

Really good, didn't want to put it down. Very thrilling and fast paced. Sometimes confusing and sometimes over-narrated in the beginning. Even the epilogue has a twist. Great winter book

A terribly chilling dystopian/world in ruins novel that centers around community, indigenous culture/heritage, and the dangerous of outsiders.

I think the most chilling aspect about this novel is how... close to real it felt. Both the  author and narrator did a fantastic job of creating that anxiety fueled atmosphere that left me reeling chapter after chapter.

There were moments where I felt the plot lulled enough to take me out of the story, but those instances were few and far between. I'll definitely be continuing the series

I was really excited for this, but ended up disappointed :// echoing other readers’ comments about flat dialogue and predictable characters. Meh
