The book started off a bit slow but by midway through really had me hooked and I raced to finish! Great whodunnit with an ending I couldn’t predict. I love Hoag’s writing style; her character dialogues and descriptions of settings are fantastic and I’ll definitely be exploring more books to read by her. Gave a 4.5/5 only because some of the very detailed and graphic descriptions made it hard to read at times.

I went in cold into this story, chose it because of the narrator. It was much darker than I expected, but I was really interested in the plot of the story. It was a bit slow moving in some places and I did figure out what was going to happen pretty early on but it kept me hanging in.

The story takes place over just two or three days so when the action is moving it’s quick & on the edge of your seat stuff, but there were a lot of points of view and some stuff was repetitive or too slow and thoughtful. It would take me to a place of tension and then slow it down and take it back. After a few times, that got annoying.

I had to ignore my dislike for most of the characters and their actions.
