Anbefaler begge :)

Short Review: This is a 1962 science fiction classic about what it means to be sentient. It is campy, dated and odd in places. But it also has some interesting discussions about what it really means to be human (or sentient.). It is the basis for John Scalzi's Fuzzy Nation. I liked them both, but prefer Fuzzy Nation. Both ended up with the them of the rule of law protecting the weak. Piper was protecting the weak against prejudice and Scalzi was protecting them from corporate greed. Both clearly products of their age. The audiobook of Fuzzy Nation has both books on it. Little Fuzzy is in public domain so you can find it free in the kindle store or other places on line in ebook form.

This book transcends sci-fi; I believe even if you normally don't like sci-fi, you'll like this. The story is a hidden gem, and the sequels are great too!

*sigh* Another book I didn't finish writing my review of in a timely fashion. I enjoyed it, but it was dated. All I wrote about it at the time was:
"I read this right on the tail of [b:Fuzzy Nation|9647532|Fuzzy Nation|John Scalzi|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1316132345s/9647532.jpg|18280046] so I'm not coming in blind with regards to the story and all of my comparisons are, perhaps unfairly, to the sexy new take on the story.

This story is very obviously a product of its time. It reads like a non-stop tobacco advertisement for one thing and, despite a strong..."

I guess I'll have to read it again to find out what I thought.

An all-time favorite first contact novel, one of the books I used to re-read every year or so. It's so fleet and streamlined and well-drawn, it's a short read but a really enjoyable one, and it launches a short but memorable and satisfying series.

Pretty good, plots moves forward well, but also seems like the sort of ground covered better by books like speaker for the dead, and I might have had some expectations given its classic status.

An excellent book, classic SF that has stood the test of time. Entertaining and thought provoking with a great ending. Really well done by audiobooks and made me want to continue listening long after I should have stopped.

Cute. Would be good to read with kids and discuss the issues.
