2.5 - sorry but the best thing was the little queer romance side story

Loved this! The level of mystery was so intense. I definitely plan to read more from this author.

Not recommended for middle schoolers. Shock value ending.

I've read all of Jessica Goodmans books, and this one is definitely my favorite of the 3. It wasn't predictable like [b:They Wish They Were Us|48717442|They Wish They Were Us|Jessica Goodman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1582659617l/48717442._SY75_.jpg|68119443], but it also had a more interesting mystery than [b:The Counselors|58608387|The Counselors|Jessica Goodman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1640171171l/58608387._SY75_.jpg|92159316].
Spoiler I loved how Ellie and her boyfriend (can't think of his name right now) were involved, but not even they knew what had actually happened to her.

Should’ve been at least 300% gayer

I was underwhelmed by the last book I read by this author and hoped this one would be different. It wasn’t.

I really really enjoyed this book. Ya thrillers are very hit or miss and this hit the majority of its beats. I enjoyed the story of sisterhood and how women are often perceived a certain way and it impacts how they are treated by the men in power. I liked the brief inclusion on how this perception of women impacts races differently.

However, it did slip up in the end and the cause-effect did not seem to add up for certain characters and the ending was a but abrupt.
