Usury is so complicated, both in Christianity and Islam. Our conceptions of interest bearing loans is fundamentally different from 1,000 years ago, where all interest was banned because it was a sin against justice, a violation of God's ownership of time. Le Goff uses incredible imagery, historic sermons, and changing conceptions of economics to explain how we completely misunderstand the formation of capitalism. I can't recommend this highly enough.
