When Sabrina Lind meets Donovan Kincaid at Harvard, he is her TA in a business class. She knew he was rich, but she didn’t know that he was a dirty, dirty boy. She didn’t take much notice of him. In fact she was more interested in his best friend and roommate, Weston King. Sabrina usually goes to the parties at their house, known as The Keep, hoping Weston will finally notice her. One night at a party, after talking to Donovan, something horrible happens and he saves her. This will set off a sequence of events that will change her life forever. Now, ten years later, Sabrina is back in their world and back in Donovan’s domain. He’ll try to wreck her, but this time she’s ready... and she’ll like it.
I was so blindsided by this one (naïve woman, look at the title! lol) in the best of ways! I usually don’t like the alphahole billionaire bully hero but Donovan Kincaid is one for the books!
This is book 1 in a duet and it sets up all the plot points for book 2 perfectly. I inhaled this one and went straight to book 2.
Yes, their relationship is complex. I’d even say it’s toxic and its dark elements may make some people uncomfortable, so take a peak at the trigger warnings. (Spoilerish)
Sabrina and Donovan? Yeah, gimme more!
Narration: Solo narration, as this is written in Sabrina’s POV, by the incomparable Elena Wolfe (you know who she is, trust me ;) ) with the epilogue read by SebYo.

Wow, I really can't believe a woman wrote this book in the 21st century. Listened to a live read of this via a book club and honestly, we all checked out in the last third and essentially speed ran the final section just to get to "the shocking twist" which was also terrifying. There is nothing redeemable about Sabrina or Donovan and honestly, they both need several lifetimes worth of therapy.
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Misogyny, Rape, Sexism, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Toxic relationship, Stalking, Gaslighting, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Car accident and Death of parent
