Phenomenal collection. Sometimes the language was so complex it did fly over my head a little bit, but I'm sure I'm going to get more from these words every single time I read them.

i give this a 3.5. i think i expected more just in the subject matter and i guess i found myself 1) being confused by what the author meant and 2) wishing there was more of a focus about the erasure of native folks in our world today.
this was the authors story to tell so i’m not about to be picky. what i read, i did enjoy!! the poems about her lovers were particularly interesting and i’m all here for the explicit nature of sensual poems. her poems focusing on nature and water were spectacular and i found myself enjoying those thoroughly. this collection was very well written, i think it’s just me and the way i comprehend things that i give it a 3.5/5.

I judge poetry by how well it packs an emotional gut punch. Some lines definitely did that. I think what really dropped the rating for me was repetitious word use which pulled me away from the poetry itself.
