A pretty solid yet disposable thriller that’s too ridiculous to not be entertaining. Has some clever uses of perspectives and red herrings.

I think vignettes are similar to short stories for me: they are interesting in the moment but the connection doesn’t last long enough for me to want to come back to the book. These stories are beautifully and horrifically written. Definitely horror. But there just isn’t anything that makes me want to go back to the book when I know I’m starting a story from scratch.
Minor: Animal cruelty, Body horror, Gore, Blood, and Injury/Injury detail

This book was published before I even existed, but I know for a fact that it was specially written and crafted for me. I feel as if Otsuichi is my godfather or something. I loved this book beyond words. It's gory but not too revolting. I loved all of the stories and the ending was perfect.
