I would give this almost 4 stars. Small spoiler alert. Schwarz does character and setting with mastery, I read this in one day and didn't want to stop. The feckless husband - I wanted to yank him bald! - and the story arc is tight and compelling. Still I wanted to know why the main character still loves the guy as things progress - duty? - I would have loved more insight into the Indian woman's past or state of mind (just a tad), and most of all, I wanted to believe the main character really cared about what becomes her work. Touches on themes of what does it mean to be a collector or "taker" of nature, which i loved.
