Control is the finale in the "Everyday Heroes" and it was a solid book. Not my favorite and I think maybe a part of it was because it was a novella. But there was a disconnect in this story that I wasn't able to enjoy as much as I wanted to. It was a solid story but not a perfect one and while I liked some aspects, it could have been done better on this one. Excited to explore more of this author's backlist though.

I loved Desi in Cuffed so I was glad to read her story. She’s Emerson’s best friend from the first book in the Everyday Hero’s series. I loved this book and thought it was too short, but I typically feel that way about any novella I read. I love how spunky Desi was. She’s one of my favorite characters from this whole series. This can be read as a standalone, but I encourage you to read all the books. Starting with Cuffed.

Control is K. Bromberg's newest novella in the Everyday Heroes series. I love this series and I was very excited to hear that Desi was getting her own story. She's Emerson's best friend and I loved her in the previous books. She's fun, flirty, and crazy, in good way. But she's being haunted by the past. Scared and looking over her shoulder and she hates it. She signs up to take a self-defense class and the teacher is a tall, dark and handsome SWAT commander in town for a few weeks. Desi can't help the attraction to the sexy man, but she's not looking for a one night stand or a long term relationship. Reznor is living with own ghosts and being in this town might be the answer he's looking for. Especially after meeting the sexy, beautiful and mouthy Desi. Who is also his new neighbor. What are the odds? The attraction between Rez and Desi is off the charts and Reznor knows what he wants. Desi. But she's going to fight him every step of the way. Will Reznor and Desi be able to let go of their pasts and enjoy their time together? I loved this story. It's hot, short and steamy! Reznor and his sexiness, his deep chuckle and his knowing eyes. Desi and her strength, beauty and ability to keep her head high. I loved that Reznor was pursing her, honest with his feelings and she was the one running. He wasn't going to let her get away, no matter what!

Jesus, take the wheel, because if I'm the one steering it, I'm going to drive right up on that stick shift and see how good he can change gears.

"Hell, Desi, just hold tight, sweetheart, because that means the second time is going to be mind-blowing."

This girl, I've never had to fight this hard for someone, but somehow, I know this fight is worth something. God, I want her…She'll be back. Let's hope I'm right.

Damn the man gives good face.

"So, are you going to elaborate on what is going on here between you and Mr. Sex on a stick in there? Does he sex you so good you say blah-blah-blah?"

I really enjoyed “reading” about Reznor and Desi’s story!

Unconventional and uniquely theirs!

I also loved the little snippets of Emerson and Grant!

Jason Clarke—amazing as ever

I loved getting back to this group of characters and the town of Sunnyville. I loved Desi in Cuffed, so it was nice to go back and see her get her own HEA. I can't remember if what happened with the guy that she woke up to in her house was in one of the other stories, or just happened with this story, but it made for a good starting point for this one. This was of course a short, quick read, it is a novella, as all the books in the 1001 Dark Nights series are. But the story was well played out, and other than I personally wouldn't have been disappointed with another steamy scene at the end of the book, it was perfect in every way. Exactly what I always hope for, and receive from K. Bromberg. The names in this were definitely unique. Desi for one, and then you have to love Reznor, I mean, it just screams hot, sexy guy, or at least to me it did. Really, I hate that this review is so short, but I guess it is like the story itself, short, and sweet? Although the story was much sweeter, and steamier!

Oh how I’ve missed the Everyday Heroes world! I can’t believe it took me so long to buy and read this gorgeous Novella if I’m honest with you. I absolutely adore Reznor and Desi’s story!

Reznor is a swat commander from San Francisco and after a call goes wrong he begins to question and doubt himself, he can’t focus on his job and is on the verge of quitting. But instead he asks his boss for some time off, his boss isn’t convinced that’s a good idea either so they work out a compromise, and Reznor Mayne heads to sunnyville to teach self defence classes whilst he gets his head together.

We met Desi in Cuffed (everyday Heroes book one) she was the best friend of Emerson Reeves, she was a wild girl, loved a good party and was pretty much loved by anyone who met her because of her outgoing and fun personality, however things have changed in the few years that have passed since the events of cuffed, Desi has recently experienced a traumatic event of her own, she’s lost confidence and wonders if her own actions are to blame for what happened to her, and honestly? She’s just plain scared. And understandably so!

So when Grant Malone convinces her to go to a self defence class, she agrees just to get her best friend’s husband and local police detective off her back. She doesn’t want to be there, but she’ll go if it means Grant will give her some space and stop sending his officers to her house to check in on her under the guise of needing their pets groomed.

When she meets Reznor for the first time she makes a complete and utter fool of herself but it’s clear there’s an intense attraction between the two of them and sparks soon fly.

This story is about trust and facing fears but also learning that it is okay to be scared once in a while, just as long as you don’t let it stop you.

Whilst this book is part of K. Bromberg everyday heroes world, it’s also a stand alone novella, you don’t actually have to have read the series in order to read this it. It’s a great way for new readers to discover K. Bromberg but also an awesome bonus for those who have already read her books in the past!

I definitely recommend it! Seriously, what are you doing reading reviews... just buy it! Trust me you will not regret it!

What can I say about Desi and Reznor that doesn't just lead to me swooning?

Desi is dealing with some control issues after having someone violate her home and state of mind. So she decides to sign up for some self-defense classes and stumbles into Reznor, not realizing that he is one of the instructors. (Open mouth, insert foot)

Reznor is taking a break from his high intensity SWAT officer job after his last call went down badly. He travels to Sunnyville to help teach some self-defense classes and take some downtime. Little did he know that the firecracker at the beginning of class would turn out to be the woman he cannot stop helping out. It doesn't hurt that they are neighbors and have a short fence between the yards.

Watching Desi and Rez fight the urge and then give and take and give and take... just left me needing more! And good lord does K. Bromberg deliver on the steamy, gritty, wonderful love story that is this book!

ARC received for an honest review

Waaah so good! This 1001 Nights short story was the perfect thing to hold me over till the next full K. Bromberg story.

It took me a little bit to get into this story, but I think that was my frame of mind at the time of picking it up, nothing to do with the story. And once I got going, I couldn't put this one down.

If you have read the previous Everyday Heroes series, you have met our leading lady Desi already - she's Em from Cuffed's best friend.

Desi and Rez do not start off on the best of terms, however they can't keep their thought off each other - nor their eyes and other bits 😋

I was more than ready for Desi's story. I knew it was going to be an interesting one, and Ms Bromberg has not disappointed.

Full of laughter, tears, great banter between our lovelies and between their friends, I really enjoyed Control.

I can't wait to see what Ms Bromberg brings us next.

I loved the slow burn between these two, there was intense foreplay happening pretty much from the moment they first met. These two commitment phobes are about to discover what it feels like to fall. One will learn to give up control and the other will take control…
