I think you have to be a Midwesterner of a certain age and background to like this book. I am such a person and I liked it. We had more hotdishes than I can count when I was a kid, and since I was a growing, ravenously hungry boy back then, I never met a hotdish I didn't like.

This is a quick, light-hearted read with a layer of subtle humor that I appreciated. A few laugh out loud lines popped up when I least expected them. The author's takes on Lutherans, bingo, and local coffee shops/diners hints that she may be related to Garrison Keillor.
