With the release of new covers soon, I got excited again to reread this series. I love this author, it's an auto-buy for me. The humor and the creative twists to ordinary tropes give the novels an exciting spin, always with amazing characters thrown into wild adventures. This space opera is full of military fiction action adventure awesomeness for fans of classical starship troopers readers. I can't resist a Team/group now called found family working together. Here's the setting. When humans hit old age they can sign up for a tour in space to protect the colonists in space and they go from old dying bodies to super soldiers. Each stage of the process, war, is always fun, with an emotional well balanced of action, loss, and also character growth. This first volume starts it all and although I already read I always get the same excitement, as I do when I reread Jurassic Park. I know what's going to happen but I am feeling it for the first time. If you're new to this series. Jump into it if you love humor space war.

Meh. Derivative trash military training sf.

At least the Forever War was bold enough to try to critique what it was ripping off.
