An amazing start to an amazing series.

The story is good alone, but the world building and lore that has gone into this is truly of epic proportions. That is what takes this saga to the next level for me.

It's both funny and serious in all the right places. I loved the main character. I hope this series runs for a long time to a satisfying conclusion.

overall decent characters, some development, and good enough world building. will be fun to meander through the series when a break is needed.

This took me a long while to read. It felt like every time I got to a good bit I had to stop reading and go do something. The. I would come back and the book would be a drag and hard to get into.

There were some really good scenes. It was hilarious how they powered the gate open. I was like of course

Dropped at 50%. Another one in the series of books that were recommended because of their magic system. It has a fairly standard start with all the usual fantasy trappings, but then the scales escalate and it's a whole lot of plot armour and convenient mcguffins and i didn't think there was any tension. the magic system was also not really interesting, thanks to one of the mcguffins. The women in this were also written badly. They exist for the protagonist to fuck and (so far), the only female mage is a bloody sex mage.

It got my attention and kept it. I don't think I'll remember anything about this in a year, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.
