The shortest of these books, so far I believe. I was surprised to find myself done so quickly.

This book is packed with action, and misery. There were a couple of segments that I wish had been dragged out a little longer. I would have liked to have cried longer, and I would have liked a moment of unbelieved tension to have been extended instead of resolving as quickly as it did. Still I enjoyed the story, and am looking forward to moving onward in the series.

Jacen is in full swing emo phase in this book and annoyingly over the top. Most of the other characters are pretty good with a decent fight towards the end.

This book is markedly better than the average EU novel, if only because it kept me engrossed from start to finish. Denning's prose isn't particularly noteworthy, but his plotting skills and characterization skills here come together well to create a gripping read, which is funny, because I don't remember that being the case with the Yuuzhan Vong stories he wrote. Maybe I was sick of the YV by then, though....

Oh my god. This book was so good. I've never cried during a Star Wars book but damn. The final interchange between Jacen and Tenel Ka just made me tear up. This was one of the best Star Wars books I've read. And I've read like 75.

Overall, pretty good. This one is more of a "things come together" installment than a "build up build up, boom, aaah!" installment, like Tempest, Denning's previous entry in the series.

The best of the series so far. Tight action, great character development, and actually uses the sacrifice of the previous book to get things moving.

My favorite of this series so far. Hits some very powerful emotional beats and has tremendous action sequences.

I officially hate Jacen Solo. That is all.

That was quick read, it's always nice to be able to go from somewhat understanding a villain to absolutely hoping they get murdered soon. Jacens descent to evil has been very well done in this series. Luke flexing on him by holding him immobile in a chair was definitely the highlight.
