Ok pet peeve. Was the hero in the Navy or the Marines? This new to me author's book was so darn good, but she could NOT make up her mind which service he entered. They are NOT interchangeable!!!

I freaking loved the book! Enemies to lovers, loved their chemistry and banter!

Trigger warning. Rape off the page, Attempted rape on the page.

I thought Because of Logan was a wonderfully fantastic read....But, wow does his brother Liam have his own emotional journey in his own story.

Erica Alexander does it again in this funny (at times, hilarious!) romantic, sweet, raw, heartbreaking, intriguing story that will grasp your attention and melt your heart.

This tells the story of two broken people with two shattered hearts and when they meet for the first time, unmistakable tense first impressions are made when River mistakes the half naked man outside as Logan, her sister Skye's boyfriend. In true River form, pouring her drink onto his back was a mistake that she instantly wishes she could take back when the man turns around and it is not Logan! From that moment on its instant sparks flying, witty and hilarious banter resulting in mega laugh out moments.

I admit that I had a very up and down opinion of River. In Because of Logan, I found her very abrasive and quite harsh, but in this book, I actually found myself really enjoying her. Her complete lack of filter and the fact she does not engage her brain before she speaks makes for plenty of humor and her sassiness keeps you on your toes. There’s certainly never a dull moment with her that’s for sure! Then, finding out what’s hiding behind all of that really makes her someone that’s easy to love. There’s so much more to her than meets the eye and it becomes abundantly clear the more you get to know her, she’s hiding a huge heart behind that armor.

Erica takes on some dark and sensitive issues, which unfortunately are all too common nowadays. I will not go in depth about these because you need to read it as the story unfolds. Your heart will break for both River and Liam and will push your anger to it's limits. But when these two finally let their walls down and truly connect, the beautiful moment will bring you almost to your knees. It's a defining moment of truth, of realisation and one of acceptance. From that moment on, they are changed forever, intrinsically linked and their relationship begins it’s own beautiful journey

This is such an exceptionally well written book where the characters conquer their past and their mutual love heals lots of wounds. The whole book is written with a great main thread, but with some fantastic details, amazing dialogue and charismatic characters. It is truly amazing. It also speaks about forgiving ourselves, leaving the past and hurts behind and opening our hearts to new experiences and people. River and Liam really came far throughout the book and became better people from just being together and loving each other.

It was a real pleasure reading this book and I can't wait to see what comes next from Erika. Highly recommended!!!
