I really like this book! There was a lot of action as well as dramatic parts which made it a great finale to the trilogy. Overall this book really allows you to witness character development from many characters. This book ended perfectly and I couldn't have asked for a better ending. However, maybe one day Kelley will write an adult fiction about them. Is that too much to ask? :D

I love Kelley Armstrong's writing, and this book is no exception, but I'm not sure how I felt about the direction this book took or the ending. Since I'm rating an ARC I'm not going to go into any detail, except to say that this book was not anything like I expected which is both good and bad. I liked it but its not my favorite of the series.

Fantastic end to the series. While I had some issues with the pacing and plot momentum of The Calling, and I still think that this series probably ought to have been two books rather than three, The Rising redeemed everything about the series for me. It was exciting, well plotted, and a fitting end to the series.

***Possible Spoilers Ahead***

Positives

- I love Ash. He's great. I kind of wish he had been introduced earlier in the series, just so we had him for longer and got more time to get attached to him as a member of the group and see him interact with the others, but he's great.

- I like Maya/Daniel, and the way that played out. I mean, there is undoubtable chemistry between Maya and Rafe, and I loved them together, but it was always a burn-hot-and-fast kind of thing. It was never going to be something that lasted beyond the series, and I like where they ended up.

- All of the Women of the Otherworld crossover characters and references. Mentions of Lucas Cortez! Mention of the Interracial Council! I was so excited when all of these things were brought up, but I was even more excited for the big character crossover - Sean Nast! Before he cut his hair! (I am a shameless and easily excited Women of the Otherworld fan).

- Bringing the Darkest Powers crew into the story. It made a lot of sense, considering that they could not realistically stay on the run forever, that their resolution needed to be tied to Maya & Co.'s resolution. It was also really interesting to see Chloe's crew from the outside (and to find that, while I love Chloe, I relate much more strongly to Maya. It is especially obvious when they are in a scene together. I like that they are such different people).

- The cyclical nature of the story was interesting, and also differentiates this series from The Darkest Powers. While Chloe is very different, both personally and situationally, from the beginning of her series to the end, Maya ends up more or less where she began. She didn't need as drastic a change to begin with, because she was already pretty comfortable in her own skin (even after finding out about the cat part), but she also ends up in the same basic situation. I'm not sure if she won or lost. And I kind of like that ambiguity.

Things I Didn't Like

- While I enjoyed the twist of who killed Serena, I wanted Serena's death to be more central to the plot than it was. As much as it worked as a sub-plot, I wanted it to be bigger. Especially because this whole series kicks off with that, and Maya is very much haunted by the fact that she grieves Serena but also wants to be able to move on (both in terms of Daniel and otherwise). I guess I wanted it to be more tied in to the major threats of the series, and it wasn't.

Once again, I'm going to be gushing over Kelley Armstrong this whole review. What I really love about her is that she's fantastic at anything she writes. Whether it's a young adult novel, like this one, or an adult novel or even a children's novel. Everything she writes is amazing.

This book did not disappoint me. It was written with her usual fantasticness. It was also a perfect ending. The problem wasn't completely resolved but it was good enough. It was actually a pretty cool ending. The rest of the book was awesome too. I liked all the running around and meeting new people. I loved the new characters that were introduced. They were all really cool. Plus I loved learning about the other experiments. That was fun.

What I love most about this book is that it's even more connected to her world in the Women of the Otherworld series. I like how she actually mentioned some names of characters we've seen in other books. That was really, really cool. I wish she would have dine more. I miss the other characters.

I liked all the characters, the same as always. They actually change throughout the series, like normal humans should. I was a little upset with who Maya ended up with but I'll get over it. I really loved Rafe, he was my favourite by far. I also love Sam though too. She's just super cool. Actually, I love all the characters. Except like Nicole but she's not important. It's hard to choose a favourite character because they're all so good!

This was a perfect ending!

This one is by far the best of the trilogy. I was having a harder time getting through the first half of the book but once I hit the middle, I didn’t want to put the book down. I loved loved LOVED how it all ended. It was the perfect ending and I definitely thought about giving it 5 stars just because of the ending lol.

This series is still not as good as the first. Like, it's not bad but I strongly prefer the first trilogy.

I thought the book did a nice job of wrapping up the series with integrity.

Not bad, but not out-of-this-world either. Definitely prefer her adult fiction.
It was neat to have characters from her other trilogy as well.
