As the author, I like to give some insight into my writing process and research for my novels. This book was a bit difficult. I wanted to portray a realistic brother/sister relationship as well as to give a good example of a M/M romance without being too stereotypical. I canvassed several friends for both data sets, and hopefully they came through in the end. In addition, I've worked to make a villain into a more sympathetic character... maybe.

Age of Saints by Christy Nicholas is the seventh book in the Druid's Brooch series. This can be read as a standalone and enjoyed completely. This story follows Conall and his sister Lainn. Conall had made an oath to their father that he would care and protect his sister, Lainn. This story shows how even with the best intentions sometimes an oath is difficult to keep.
I really enjoyed the story and the setting in what would become Ireland. There was lots of detail but not to the point of taking away from the story. I also was concerned because I had not read the series but this is a great self-standing book. I look forward to reading more in this series and author in the future.

Age of Saints (Druid's Brooch Series) By Christy Nicholas
4 Stars!!!!

I once again found myself in the world of the druids. This is the seventh book in the series but the second book I have read in this series. Even with that in hand I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The author has such a unique world that has been created that one finds themselves plunged straight in. The setting is just as Christianity is coming into the scene and is starting to take over from paganism.

I really found that I was routing for Conall from the beginning. The author really has a refreshing style that brings the characters to life. I felt as though I really was in Ireland and that I was there with them. The author's unique way of writing helped bring the magic to life and the characters. I could feel the anguish as Conall strives to keep his promise to keep his sister safe and the sacrifices he makes. I was on bated breath to see the decision he had to make. I cannot wait to read more from this author and catch up on the rest of this series.

Age of Saints (Druid’s Brooch #7)
By Christy Nicholas
4 stars

Age of Saints was an excellent read, full of action and with great characters. I was hooked from the very beginning. The author’s writing was engaging and full of wonderful descriptive language. The flow and pace of the story were great. I really enjoyed the storyline and it kept my interest throughout – I found myself to having to keep the pages turning so that I could find out what was going to happen with Conall. I did feel sorry for him, everything he seemed to do just went wrong. I really enjoyed reading about him.
Age of Saints is a richly detailed fantasy story that I would absolutely recommend! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Age of Saints: Druid’s Brooch series by Christy Nicholas is an great fast read. The action is non stop and the story is one of family. I love reading Christy Nicholas books because I know that I am going get to an adventure of a lifetime with in the book. In the same breath, Christy Nicholas usually has some type of bite to the story. In this story, Conall had promise to take care of his sister Lainn to his dying father. Conall had issues keeping that promise. Between the abusive step-father, a powerful Faerie Queen, and a maddened Fae Lord, Conall was having a hard time making the decisions to Lainn. The story is a roller coaster ride of action and emotions. Will Conall be able to take care of Lainn or will the others make sure he will not be able to fulfill his promise to his father?

This story is full of action and emotional. It was a roller coaster ride of emotions that just kept going. It is a creative, engaging, page turner. Conall made a promise to his father that he will always take care of his sister. But when everything he does seems wrong and all of his decisions don’t seem right. Now he needs to save his sister but it could cost him his life. They are great characters that I loved and felt compassion for. You won’t regret picking this book, highly recommend.

Age of Saints is the seventh book in the Druid’s Brooch Series by Christy Nicholas. This book takes us further back in the sequence of events, giving us a new perspective on some of the characters, events, magic, and that has driven this story/series. It is primarily an historical fantasy- with paranormal elements, drama, adventure, action, romance, magic, family, duty/responsibility, bonds, and so much more. This book has an M/M romance too, which sets it apart from others in the series.
This story has its own unique identity, but also ‘fits’ wonderfully well with its companions in the collection. As with all the other books in this series, I really love all the attention to detail and the vividly descriptive storytelling that Ms. Nicholas excels at- it brings her stories to life and makes them very realistic, believable, and entirely captivating- and she always delivers a really well written tale. Each book in the series is fascinating on its own, but then you begin to realise that each one contributes a fragment in a bigger picture that is being revealed. Each book draws you in and gets you wondering right from the start. Superb!
The character/s are complex, fully realised individuals who are so cleverly crafted- with interesting and likeable (or detestable natures)- as the author is easily able to sway you one way or another.
I can’t wait to continue this series!

Thank you, Ms. Nicholas!

Age of Saints: Druid’s Brooch Series: #7 by Christy Nicholas

The 7th in this series yet stands well on its own, this is my 2nd book by this author and her writing will pull you in and not let go..The descriptions of the surroundings and all that is going on helps in visualizing everything perfectly.

While this is not a chosen genre of mine, I absolutely enjoyed every page and can not wait for the next one which I already have waiting for me, the cover made me notice, the synopsis made me choose it, and the writing has made me stay.

I particularly enjoyed the characters in this story..Conall was awesome and trying to fulfill a promise he made to his father turns out to be more of a challenge than he realized, I loved the family bond between him and Lainn and I loved how real it felt..The interactions between the two made me smile many times.

Looking forward to see where this story goes next and if you are looking for a really good historical fantasy novel do yourself a favor and read all of this series in order..I do plan to do that very soon

Age of Saints: Druid's Brooch Series: #7 by Christy Nicholas is another great addition to this series. This series is a paranormal fantasy series where each story is set in different times. Age of Saints takes us further back in time to almost where it started and the magic became. It also gives us a look back on of the characters we have seen in the other books and shows them in a new light. Each story is a puzzle being put together for the big reveal. Christy’s writing always you to become one with the story and her attention to detail brings it to life. This captivating story is made more enjoyable due to the paranormal and magical elements. But it is also full of adventure and action, drama and romance.

I look forward to the next book.
