I appreciate the British Library Crime Classics series and the covers are as enticing as a dessert trolley but I have yet to read one of the short story collections that rises above 3 stars. In this case, 3 stars is generous. John Dickson Carr's 'Blind Man's Hood' is spectacularly good and doesn't belong here. With one or two exceptions the rest are mediocre and two, which I won't name, are of the 'twist in the tale' variety which I can't abide no matter how well they're written.

This anthology is a lovely collection on British short story mysteries mostly set in winter or at Christmas time.
The introductions before each story gave some back story on the author and the various societies of mystery writers of the time.
I thoroughly enjoyed almost every story, especially the title story - The Christmas Card Crime - along with By The Sword, âTwixt the Cup and the Lip. and Blind Man's Hood.
*I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and I am required to disclose that in my review in compliance with federal law.*

Perfect Christmas reading. Will be hunting out other similar collections from British library.
