This was easy reading and mentally I wasn't up for anything challenging, which is the only reason I finished it. I found it boring and unsatisfying in terms of plot. There was a long build up to a mystery that was then resolved in about 2 paragraphs. The rest of the book was an argument that you knew would be resolved so was hard to get too invested in. The only reason for someone to choose this would be if you only want smut but there are books out there with smut and plot - you don't have to choose!

An interesting sequel, I didn't love the choices Persephone made in this book, her reckless behavior felt a bit out of character but hades was amazing as usual and it was an okay book. i still look forward to reading the next one!

The main character seemed so insecure and was making mistakes that didnt make sense. It seemed like the whole book she was just fighting for something small after she'd been given everything. I fell off once she got her aegle.Ā

Okay, Iā€™m gonna sit down with my hands crossed on my lap and try not to loose it. I have a lot to say about this book my goodness.

Okay so if you do not know, this whole series so far is resembling more of a Wattpad story esc vibe SO if you donā€™t like cheesier books like that and itā€™s not likeā€”-how do I explain it? Like really craftily written, I donā€™t recommend this series to you. But, itā€™s fun to read fast and not have much thought out into and great for entertainment purposes to laugh at how much Persephone sucks at making decisions.

I feel like this series also has a bit of plot holes and oddities that can be frustrating to the reader.

The main problem with this book is the main character in itselfā€”-Persephone, the Goddess of Spring. She is pretty much young, dumb, and makes probably the worst decisions absolutely possible (which is the reason everyone is bashing this book and is getting frustrated by it) But, like I donā€™t blame them, Iā€™m not only bashing her decisions in this book but I feel like my head is being bashed on a cement wall because SHE NEVER FUCKING LEARNS I JUST WANT TO USE APOLLOS MAGIC TO JUST KEEP REVIVING HER AFTER TOSSING HER OFF OF A STEEP HIGH CLIFF.

Anyways~~~

Persephone though is actually true to the words young and dumb since she is new to the whole goddess thing now that she is not you knowā€¦. Locked in a glass cage anymore. She hasnā€™t had nearly enough experience as the rest of the gods and goddesses, which the author is really trying to prove, nevertheless those gods still arenā€™t perfect and even though she is quirky, not perfect, and a clumsy shitfuck she is the light barer for all of them. So I can honestly get why she is like this and with the rest of the story balancing it out, I donā€™t hate her as much for it. BUT IF THERE IS NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AT ANY POINT IN THIS SERIES AND SHE REMAINS MAKING THESE IMMATURE DECISIONS I SWEAR TO GOD. By the end of this book tho I have to say there was some progress.

Hades and Persephone dynamic has gotten a bit better in the matter that they arenā€™t completely banging every time they see each other and not using that to solve all of their problems and arguments so we love some sort of character development.

I actually love some of the characters:
Hecate- what a Queen literal icon helping Persephone with all of her fuck ups
Hermes- I LOVE HIM and his nickname Sephy, he is so adorable and makes me brighten up every time he is in the book. I want him as a friend in real life.
Apollo- I actually really love him and his personality. I want him as a friend in real life.
Sybil- dig her
Leuce- she slayed
Hades- heā€™s actually pretty cool I love his background and Persephone needs to understand HOW SERIOUS HIS JOB IS HE IS LITERALLY IN CONTROL OF DEATH he has a lot of things rested on his shoulders and has lived for SO LONGā€¦ like he is of course going to have other lovers fucking chill Persephone. I loved his ā€œAre you well?ā€ Quotes lol
Lexa- Mid
Persephone- a clusterfuck
Pirithous- DONT LIKE HIM
Diemetri- can suck a bag ofā€”-
Demeter- apparently people who have a similar name to Diemetri are all just unbearable and I hate them

After all of this for some reason I honestly loved this book because of the characters they have a place in my heart and I just so happy and at ease reading it, especially playing my favorite music while reading made it so much more vivid and entertaining for me. OH
my number one favorite I listened to was with the scenes with Hermes or Apollo or the club scenes when I played ā€œOh Devil Radio versionā€ by Electric Guest and it was amazing and ā€œIā€™m missing youā€ by the Black Eyed Peas :,,))

ā€”ā€” and the amount of times I put my hand over my mouth from a plot twist Iā€”ā€”

I'm sorry. There was plot? It felt like it was just whiplash between miscommunication and then screwing each brains out when they made up.

I also had the whiplash between cringing one minute and rolling my eyes the next.

It reads like fanfic. Which there's nothing wrong with that from time to time, but I apparently can't listen to 12+ hours of it.Ā

Persephone felt pretty immature (blah blah blah, I know she's young) and annoying and selfish.

I was pretty over it halfway through, but I was too stubborn to stop listening.
