I knew what was happening for like maybe 55% of this book, and I’m still not sure I understand the ending.

The premise is unique and well executed. I tried listening to the audio book and had to stop because of the horror and gore elements, but I still wanted to know how everything came together so I read the last half. My first (and probably last) time reading horror.

Too gorey to listen to, I may try reading the second half as I really enjoy the intricate story and characters.

So yes. Or rather no. A (kinda) promising start, but what a rubbish ending. The bulk of the books reads rather pleasantly, a regular, unhurried pace, but the last forty-something pages are just an overly complex hodgepodge of several deus-ex-machina trying to explain the rest of the book to come to some not so clever ending. The plot is filled with loopholes and the author artificially manipulates the timelines to suit the plot 'development'.
