I love Elizabethan history, King Arthur, and a bit of spooky stuff. And I rate Phil Rickman as an author. This should've been an amazing book! But it was so boring I had to push myself to finish it. Not quite sure what went wrong.

Really enjoyed this although it did flag a little in the middle before picking up again towards the end. I liked the twist towards the end although I do think it was made a little to obvious that Nel hadn't killed anybody, that she was a victim of intolerance.

Really enjoyed this book and didn't want to put it down.
Fund myself quickly drawn in to the world of Dr John Dee and felt Phil Rickman has brought this mysterious character alive with all his questioning and uncertainties.

I might try this book again, but this is the second time I've tried to read it. It just leaves me cold. Which is strange considering I like Rickman and the Tudors.

I know very little about John Dee and actually stumbled across a version of him in another series in which he wasn't as major a character. I have more trouble relating to him in this book. The writing is strong so I will try another book by Rickman. This just isn't my favorite historical fiction set in this time/place.

Bit slow at the beginning, it picked up speed in the second half. I liked the conclusion and that some plot twists came as a surprise.
Some grammar errors, misspellings and other, similar, mistakes were annoying enough to interrupt my reading pace.
