I read this book because I was in between book club reads and I needed something quick to read. This turned out to be just that. I had seen the movie, so I knew the basic storyline. I have to say the movie glamorized it much more than the book did. It was a bit of a dry read, I mean the story itself was interesting. Like a I said a quick read, but not a literary masterpiece.

Frank is a fraud the like of which the world has rarely seen. The picture of him is realistic, there’s no idealization or finger-pointing “that’s why he is the way he is”.

A perfect book if you need something easy, but not too shallow. A page turner, light tone book. What amazes me the most is that it’s a true story.

Frank Abagnale was not only a ingenious con man but is also an excellent storyteller. That's one of the big reasons he got away with all that he did: his ability to weave small details and pieces into his cons to make them seem believable. His escapades were entertaining, lofty, larger-than-life. This makes him an excellent writer as well, although take the tales with a grain of salt....

Brilliantly told in the words of Frank Abagnale himself. This was one of those books that I didn't want to end, because each con job was more outrageous than the last. We'll see if the movie is anywhere near as good!

I haven't seen the film. What a read!
Frank Abagnale is a complete con-man. Throughout the book he assumes the roles of a pilot, college lecturer, doctor, author and prison inspector. At times it reads like a work of fiction. Now time to watch the movie.

i really enjoyed this book. i loved hearing from frank himself and to gather more context on his life that the movie doesn’t cover.

I loved that this book read like fiction because, frankly, some of the stuff his did is just unbelievable. What a strange young man to work so hard to be a crook. I always figured you worked less to steal but not the way he did it. He puts hours of work and leaning before and during his cons. Although he was able to put that spirit into his work after the escapades detailed in the book, I wonder what his life would have been like had he not turned to crime and put all that drive into honest work. Entertaining read though, crazier than the film.
