(major spoilers) After the first three books of the Warriors series, Rising Storm is NOT afraid to go in and hurt your feelings with both depressing twists AND characterization.

ThunderClan is shown at their lowest with a mentally scarred leader, a fresh-new deputy, and warriors that...may or may not be trusted. Bluestar's emotional downfall is very well-written and believable, and even made me appreciate how mature a kid's book could be to have something like this. Cloudpaw and Fireheart are also excellent foils to each other, yet RS left me wanting to understand Cloudpaw's motivation more for breaking the warrior code so often. However, the thing that takes the cake in this book is the politics. The consequence of Tigerclaw ending up as ShadowClan leader because Fireheart didn't want to make ThunderClan seem weak was SUCH a good consequence, and I can't wait to see how the characters in future books make choices that either put their safety or strength first.

TL;DR: (NO, I'm not going to talk about the death in this book because it hit me hard...) A great starter to the second part of the first Warriors series with tons of drama and characters degrading and developing, but some plot points bother me more than others. (4/5)

ngl i really dont like fireheart, like his super black and white thinking is pretty toxic imo and hes just so dumb so often. But,,,,,, i do really like how the clan opened up to him by the end and very clearly trusts him now.
Sandstorm kinda pisses me off too??? like she knows for a fact that firehearts only been with the clan for like less than a year or something but shes so hard on him and expects him to just know everything.
hella mixed feelings for cloudpaw tho. like it honestly doesnt really make sense for him to act the way he does when he was literally raised in the clan and barely had any interaction with his mother for a long time.

This book was pretty good, but I'd say it's one of the weakest in the original arc since it's definitely the filler. The ending was extremely climatic but the beginning and middle were pretty slow since it was reiterating the same issues, most lacking in progress.

Again I enjoyed seeing Fireheart’s character development. I did doubt his ability to be a good deputy in the beginning because I thought it should’ve gone to a more experienced warrior. But throughout this book I feel like he’s learned a lot and is now handling being deputy really well, especially considering the extreme circumstance
Spoiler aka Bluestar being coo coo crazy right now. Like I understand why, Tigerclaw’s betrayal was wild but like girl it’s been a whole book, you need to pull it together cuz your clan needs you

I liked seeing how Fireheart’s relationships developed in this book and how he’s gone from being disliked to being looked up to by almost everyone in the clan.

Spoiler Yellowfang shouldn’t have died I loved her and her last words to Fireheart almost had me weeping.

I feel like everyone forgot about Cloudpaw being kidnapped so fast. Like sure it was his own fault and he deserved it, but like everyone just moved on. On the bright side he is so much less annoying now

Again, it's about every other one that resonates extremely well with me. So this isn't as high on my list
