Not nearly as bad as some reviews would have you believe.

This was an entertaining book and I enjoyed most of it. However, the romance drove me absolutely insane. I was gritting my teeth and wondering if I could actually count the number of times that F'lar shook Lessa, because we women love being shaken into sensibility, and a bit later I ran across these.

I truly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to continuing with the series. This work is a well-written, creative adventure novel.

A quick and easy read.

I love this book. I really love Lessa and F’lar and I wish they had been the POV characters in more of the books

I am rather unreasonably biased in the Pern series favor since I began reading these books when I was young and loved them. Also, dragons. How could dragons not be a huge plus to anyone is beyond my understanding.

It's not perfect. It's not even written all that well. There are POV jumps all over the place and I actually rather hate that in books. The relationships between people are really sketchy, and it doesn't help that I think the male lead is kind of an ass. Who gets better later on in the book, but is still an ass. The female lead was all right, definitely not perfect, but not incompetent either.

Listing that (and ignoring other flaws, haha), makes me wonder why I enjoyed reading the book. Not as much as when I was younger, but even now I like it. There are the dragons, of course, who I love and adore to pieces. There is telepathic bonding and instant love between humans and dragons and... yeah, I'm sucker for those too, not going to lie. I enjoyed the story, and once I got over my distaste for the beginning (I found it boring and slow) I liked it more. Kind of incomprehensible.

3/5 stars. Average. Maybe a little less than, but I enjoyed it anyway.
