One of my favourite books of 2017. Carter & Lovecraft manages to combine detective fiction and supernatural thriller in a way that celebrates both.

Is it possible for an author to be tailor made for an individual? Everything I've read from Howard has been amazing.

Did I need some fresh fluff after a bunch of non-fiction reading? Yes I did. This was fun. Fun fluff. You don't need to know a lot of HP Lovecraft lore to get the references here. Listened via Hoopla.

Solidly interesting, I really liked the character of Carter and his total down-to-earth-ness. Who doesn't want an omelette after surviving the end of the world?
Emily Lovecraft felt more like an attempt to counter Lovecraft's racist and misogynist legacy than a living, breathing African-American woman, but I can't object to the sentiment. Here's hoping she develops more complexity and realism in book two.
