so this is my first time finishing a book for my book club LMAO. its been over 2 months since i wrote a book review due to my huge reading slump that i am currently in but i FINALLY finished a book which is a book that is highly requested, hunger games. hunger games has taken me almost two months to finish because of this : it was slow and boring, unfortunately.

katniss sacrificed herself for her sister to be part of the hunger games (an annual game of life and death between 24 contestants from 12 districts) she competes by survival, using her bow and arrow as a weapon and teaming up with Peeta (the same guy from her district) throughout the games.

i thought this book was overall really slow, i didn’t expect the hunger games to be just a survival aspect and expected way more from this book. i did enjoy some aspects of it such as the sacrifices some of the characters made and some of the survival skills that katniss had to survive. however, i didn’t really feel any chemistry between katniss and peeta, i mean its a young adult book so it makes sense that its kiddish especially the kind of themes and values. i just had high expectations on hunger games because its popular ofc, but i think im going to give the film a try because it seems more lively than to imagine things on a page.

anyways, hunger games disappointed me, i didn’t really like it as much as i thought but maybe the second or third book of the series will be better

I have wanted to read this for so long and I honestly can't believe it has taken me this long. Thankfully it has been a while since I've seen the movie so I didn't remember much.

I loved this so much and I couldn't put it down. It's so exciting and fast-paced and I loved the characters a lot. Especially Peeta, he is a sweetheart.

I liked this more than I expected to given the description. An engrossing, quick read. On to the next book in the trilogy...

Reread after 15 years. Many books of my childhood that I try to reread as an adult turn up to be a disappointment. This is not the case for the first instalment of the Hunger Games. It still holds up after all these years.
