3.5

My first Armentrout read and I even started with one of her pseudonyms. I enjoyed reading this too. There's so much misunderstanding, and I wanna know what happens next.

Barely any plot, character development was flimsy and forced. Really not my cup of tea.

Oh Jennifer, you are my FAVORITE author. Just when I think I love your YA books you give us this adult jem and make my heart swoon. Your writing style is flawless and your characters make me fall in love everytime. And gurl...you know how to create sexy men. First Daemon and Aidan then you give us Chase?!?! Uh I will continue to be one of your biggest fans. I cannot wait to read 'Tempting the Player'

Um... where did my panties go?
Wow. Just... wow. That's how amazing this book was, I'm just completely speechless.

J. Lynn is the pseudonym for Jennifer L. Armentrout-- a woman whom, I must say, has solidified herself as one of my top 10 favorite authors of all time. Jennifer truly has a gift for creating relatable female protagonists, and steaming hot men that know how to get a girl all hot and bothered. Her writing style is superb, just the right amount of dialogue and description to balance each other out, and her plots are on point.

Ladies, get out the ice packs and hand held fans, because Chase Gamble is IN THE HOUSE.

Obligatory swooning
That man was just delectable. He and Maddie have quite a background together, and I loved how the basis for their relationship wasn't just the massive and all-encompasing sexual tension that drew them together. They had a solid foundation, years and years of knowing each other.

But, damn, the sexual tension KILLED me! Both Maddie and Chase are holding back on what they really want, because they're afraid they'll get hurt, and they think it's not the right thing to do. I just wanted to grab them and smoosh their mouths together. Maddie just kept pushing him back, and pushing back. Why? Why on earth would anyone deny Chase Gamble? He was so seductive and charming, and downright sexy! In a way though, the endless tension only made it that much better when they finally do give in and make love, because then it's just a feeling of, "Ah, finally." But, of course, Jennifer being the amazing author that she is, can't give us a pretty little happily ever after. Just because they finally do the mattress mambo doesn't mean everything is fine in Maddie land.

I have to say that even though Maddie and Chase take their sweet ass time to have sex, there's still some really great scenes leading up to it that just---whoo boy. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Trust me, you're not totally unsatisfied while you wait.

A lot of what happened was just a terrible case of miscommunication, and it's times like that where I really get frustrated, because if either Maddie or Chase would open their mouths and explain, with just a few little words, what's going on, EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE.

Either way, the ending was great, and I know that there will be 2 more companion books, featuring Chase's two brothers, Chad and Chandler, both of which are just as sexy and compelling as Chase.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. It's the first adult book written by jennifer Armentrout under the name J Lynn. I heard some great things about it, but in the end I just think it was a nice and enjoyable read, but not more. What I did really njoy about this book was the writing style, I just love this authors writing style.

The story is a bit simple and it is obviously from the start that it will be a romance novel. I thought the premise was interesting enough. But for me the book was just too short and there was too much misunderstandings and bickering and too less romance. I did enjoy the romance and the tension between the two lead characters was done very good! But the book just was too short and I didn't had the feeling I really got to know the characters. Also the reason Chase gives for not being able to be with Maddie just felt flat, it just felt stupid that a minor point like that was standing in the way of their happiness.

I did like the characters, but again I think the story was a bit too short to really give them much depth. i would love to know more about both characters and their lives and families. The emphaszie was now too much on their developing romance than on the characters themself and I like getting to know the characters.

To conclude: I guess I just had too high expectations for this book and didn't really realise it was so short. I think the story was nice enough and it definitely is a nice and enjoyable read, but just don't expect much more.
