This book is enraging to read. I was quite mad at the world when i finished it, but I felt seen as well. I think every woman can relate to something in this book. It was engaging, informative and the ending was a gut punch.

A great feminist read about gender inequality in South-Korea.

Read for a gender-based book club and really enjoyed it. It is all about the everyday (and more serious) sexism experienced by women. I am familiar with a western female experience of sexism myself, so it was really interesting to hear from a different culture and perspective. The audiobook reading was very enjoyable and the tone remained calm and reflective throughout, so I didn't find myself getting exhausted hearing about the same frustrating themes within sexism as I frequently do when I read other feminist books and just make myself angry in the process. Initially I was confused about the choice of male narrator, but this is explained and makes sense throughout the book so I was overall very pleased with my listen.

This book is as informative as it is engaging and heartbreaking. I’m mostly leaving it at 4.5 rather than a 5 because there’s always another side or opinion to any highly accurate fictional depiction of a certain time period

This book describes the life of a south Korean woman representative of the life of most women there. It was basically a description of systematic sexism and misogyny. I wish more men read books like that but the ones who would need it aren't the men who would read books like that.
The story about her mental breakdown or whatever this was, was honestly a bit weird to me and felt incomplete. I would have liked it better if it had been left out.
