Don't let the short length fool you. This is a rich, full story that does an excellent job of introducing readers to a strong character, the strange world she lives in with its terrifying hidden secrets, and the powerful animals her people work with. This is a prequel for a trilogy that comes before the Hero Rebellion series, but it tells a full story - no cliffhanger or teasers. Just a richly imagined world full if intriguing characters and beasts you will want to spend more time about and learn more about.
