Totally didn't expect this to be worthy of 5 stars, but tscha, it was worth picking up. I thought maybe after reading this book, I'd be totally buggin', but it was cute. Subtle differences, really. It was like watching the movie. Which I'm kinda glad, because I could go totally postal if there were, like, random stuff in it. Will this story ever lose is classic status? As if!

Back in the mid-nineties I happened upon a novel named Clueless, based on the film Clueless, based on Jane Austen's Emma. I read it. It opens with a dream sequence in which our heroine Cher is dubbed "Clueless" by her deceased mother. Her mother has a bread-scented hand. There is a glossary of terms, as if. That's all I remember.

it was almost painful sitting through all that time-specific slang (baldwins and betties, go figure), and i much prefer the movie. but it was also very sweet, and i can see how i would be crazy about cher and clueless if i was a teen when it first came out.
